Viral Short Film 'Oppressed Majority' Reverses Gender Realities
Imagine a world where it was the men who were sexually harassed and abused in the streets by women and the men who were in charge of child care. A French director put together a short video showing just this scenario and it is going viral.
In the thought-provoking short film, "Majorité Opprimé" or "Oppressed Majority" the roles have been reversed, and what at first it appears to be quite funny, eventually becomes rather disturbing and dark.
The film was made back in 2010 by French actress, director and screenwriter, Eleonoré Pourriat. On February 5th this year, Pourriat uploaded the video to YouTube and it has already had well over three million views.
Pourriat told The Independent that she found it "astonishing, just incredible" that interest in her film had exploded this way, saying "Obviously, I have touched a nerve. Women in France, but not just in France, feel that everyday sexism has been allowed to go on for too long."
